Digital Transformation

/ˈdɪdʒ.ə.t̬əl ˌtræns.fɚˈmeɪ.ʃən/

A fundamental change in how an organization uses digital technologies to deliver value to its customers and possibly reinvent itself in the process.

When it comes to digital transformation you can observe a spectrum of radicalness: some organizations merely digitalize their old business processes for more efficiency, others ‘move to the cloud’, and others innovate and scale entirely new digital business models from the edges (see levels of transformation). A definition somewhere in the middle that we like comes from Salesforce: “Digital transformation is the process of using digital technologies to create new — or modify existing — business processes, culture, and customer experiences to meet changing business and market requirements. This reimagining of business in the digital age is digital transformation.”
